4th of July weekend at the cabin!

Every year we like to go to Matt's parents cabin in Wisconsin for the 4th of July. It's a really fun time to be there with a lot going on in the area. This year Craig and Karen hosted a Johnson/Anderson family get-together, and most everyone was able to make it. We had a great time being together!

Here are the tables set up in the screened porch for our meal. Karen and Craig did a lot of work to make sure everything was nice for the gathering.

Cam, Linnea, Gwen, Sonja, and Naomi drove to the cabin and surprised everyone - no one knew that they were coming! It was so fun to see them! Mckenna LOVES her cousins so much, and she was very excited to see them all. Here is Mckenna giving Sonja a big bear hug... so cute. :)

Gwen is such a little mommy, it is so sweet. Here is Gwen holding her little cousin, Calla. You can see that they are both so happy - I love the smiles on their faces!

This picture is kind of funny of Mckenna, but there is a cute story behind it. When I was pregnant with Mckenna, Matt's Aunt Rose gave us this toddler-size ladybug bikini swimsuit at a family baby shower. Mckenna's room colors and ladybug theme were on the shower invite, and I remember this little bikini getting a laugh from everyone at the shower when I opened the gift and held it up - it matches her room! It didn't fit Mckenna until this summer, so I put it on her and she ran out to the porch to show Rose. Cute! :)

Cousins! From left - Gwen, Mckenna holding Calla, Sonja holding Naomi, and Elise. The kids had a fun time playing together that afternoon.

Brothers and babies!

I loved snuggling with little Naomi, she is so sweet!

There are several traditions in the small town of Barnes, WI over the 4th of July, including the popular parade through town...

I think the look on Mckenna's face comes from seeing this coming down the road toward us...
... a big firetruck squirting water and soaking people with their hose.  :)
There are always a few interesting "floats' to admire.

Back to the cabin after the parade and time for a boat ride!

Mckenna is wearing Matt's polarized fishing sunglasses.  Watch out, she might catch a musky with those things on!  Hahaha...  :)

Another tradition is the concert on the lawn at the Barnes church to kick off the evening fireworks festivities.

Calla was having fun smiling at the people sitting around us - go figure.  :)  Since it was going to be a late night watching the fireworks and it's also pretty buggy out in the evenings during the summer, we decided to put Calla in her PJs so she could cover up from the bugs and be ready to zonk out... cutie-pie!

Play time at the park before the fireworks start...

This thing was making me dizzy just looking at it, but Mckenna had fun with Grandpa Craig pushing.

Waiting patiently for the main event - the fireworks.  And as you can see, about ready to fall asleep.

The fireworks in Barnes are pretty loud, as they are literally set off right in front of you.  Despite the loud booms, Mckenna loved it, and Calla fell right asleep.

Last day at the cabin over the holiday weekend.  We always have such a great time!  This little girl will not be sitting still like this next summer at the cabin... now she's running all over the place!

Mckenna and Matt eating raspberry yogurt with raspberries in it.  I love how everything Matt does cracks Mckenna and Calla up... look at her face, she loves that guy!  :)

Gotta go load more pictures from the rest of our summer! See ya soon...
